September 22 sleever

Recommended Posts

I start my pre-op diet tomorrow, and I am panicking big time! What if I can't do it???? I mean, willpower is not really my friend... I could use a surgery buddy, badly! I am 58 year old female, and bmi is at 37, so of course I worry I should just diet and lose it all, which of course I can't. anyone just going to start their preop diet and feeling the same way?

Where are you in Texas? Who is doing your surgery? I am almost 54, BMI 40, and I don't have willpower either. I know it's hard. I don't have my surgery date yet and my pre-op diet will only be 3 days but I am going to be nervous about sticking to it as well.

My first post here, but my excitement about my surgery on the 22nd has overcome my reticence. Unlike many, I don't have to do a pre-op diet (except for the usual no food or Water after midnight the day before surgery). I am apprehensive about what the first week will be like, but I have several friends who have been down this road ahead of me, so I know that there is a new normal waiting after the liquid diet and the soft, mushy diet.

I, too, am in Texas, but I will be having surgery in Houston. I keep thinking of Sept. 22 as my liberation day. I will finally have the opportunity to beat the weight issues I've had all my life.

Good luck to you!!! Great way to describe it- Liberation Day!

This body has served me well and made four beautiful babies. But now it's time to find me again, lurking somewhere under all these soft rolls. Had my pre-op appt today, and am all set for 26th! 5 days to go!!!

How are you doing, Diana TX? I had a bad case of cold feet yesterday and would have bolted out of the pre-op area if my best friend hadn't been there to keep me honest. Back home now, and although I'm sore, no problems so far. Hope all is well with you.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
