Stretched sleeve

Recommended Posts

Anyone know for a fact their sleeve stretched and what are you doing about it? I had an upper endoscopy done today and my sleeve has stretched and my surgeon is going to fix it. I'm not really sure what I did to stretch it but he's attributing it my pregnancy.

My surgeon's position is that it is impossible to stretch my sleeve as he removed the flexible part. The only way to make the sleeve bigger is if it balloons at the top or bottom due to rapid, massive, habitual over eating

Same. My surgeon insists that if the sleeve is done correctly, all the stretchy part (or the fundus) is removed leaving only the muscle which won't stretch. Natural relaxing will occur, but he advised me that I would never be able to eat more than 2 cups in a sitting -- 6-8oz of protein' MAX.

At three years and three months out, I have found that he is wrong. There is no way I can eat two cups of anything except popcorn' and 4oz of protein' is my limit. If I push it to 6, there is a high probability it is coming back out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
