How much should I be able to eat

Recommended Posts

That's not entirely true. Again, I'm over negativity. You want the last word? Will That make you feel better? Take the last word. Because I am done responding to negative people. It's ridiculous.

I'm two weeks out and it's less of a feeling "full" and more of an "I need to stop eating now" feeling. I can barely eat anything at all rn tho. I don't even have to try, I know I wouldn't be able to eat a bite of banana. But everyone is so different. Withing 4 days my mom was calling her surgeon to want to move on and eat "regular" food. (side note: she's doing really well, we're all just very diffferent).

Umm because 1 small banana IS approx 4 tbs. again, if you aren't offering anything positive to the post, move on.

Thank ya kindly.

Trying to be helpful here, honest, but your perceptions on amounts are way off. One small banana is not even close to 4 tablespoons, it is way, way more......there are 4 tablespoons in 1/4 cup. No way a small banana is just 1/4 cup, unless it is one of these teeny specialty finger bananas:

And if you program says 4 tablespoons of banana as a SIDE, that means you have to eat your Protein first, you can't skip the protein first rule and expect good results.

Thanks Gina, I have this handy measuring device from my NUT and I mashed and measured about 3 and 3/4 tbs of banana. Your right, Protein first. I know better. It was a grab and go. Was in a rush and figured something was better than nothing. Plus my NUT encouraged me to eat one serving of banana a day, either as a snack or during a meal for the leg cramps.

This is basically what your stomach looks like immediately after surgery:

how-to-perform-laparoscopic-sleeve-gastr

At 2 weeks out, you're still healing. Nerves have been cut and things stapled back together. Your "full" sensation may not be working properly because of everything being so wonky (scientific term). That's why it's very important to measure everything so you don't accidentally over eat if you are trying to rely on the full signal early out. That's how leaks can occur. Also, certain foods give better restriction than others. For instance, I can eat 6 ounces of fish at 2 years out, but can still only eat 3 or 4 ounces of chicken breast because it's denser Protein.

Is that a good enough answer for you, princess?

For a grab and go, you might really like the Mini Baby Bel Light cheese, it's the little round one wrapped up in wax. They keep outside the fridge for about 2 hours bc of the wax. Anyway, super dense, yummy, and a good base in your stomach.

They are quite cheap at costco and Sam's, but expensive in the supermarket.

Thanks Gina! I'll give them a shot.

Jane, apparently!

Babbs, really great informative answer. Was impressed by the response in fact. Until, I got to the end. Why is it so hard for people to be nice.

Ok, i feel silly asking but... i have a weights and measures question. (Not about bananas). When weighing protien, meats for example, is it safe to assume it's cooked already? Or should it be weighed raw?

Meh. Just a little joke to keep things light. No harm intended. I personally like being called a princess. And we all know that @@LipstickLady IS one. A pretty pretty one.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
