Well, I'm 4 weeks out! I work for my surgeon so he insisted I take the whole 6 weeks off! I feel so lazy! I am not used to being home all day everyday! My kids are in school so all day I feel like I do here, so there! I nap, I watch tv! How did everyone else feel at 6 weeks?

Well geez, lets complain about not having to run after the kids, clean up their mess or deal with patients all day... Lol. Two weeks left! You'll make it! Get outside and enjoy the fresh air! Walk around your neighborhood! Walk around the mall! Don't worry about not "doing" anything- enjoy this time post op when you don't have those pressures and can try and remember who YOU are! Be selfish! If you live near Water, go sit by it and enjoy the peacefulness of it. Meander, wander, meditate, journal, and plan. Oh I could go on and on here...

@@nursegettingheathy I tend to do those things pre-op whenever I have time off. It's depressing and then I am mad at myself for wasting time sitting around. As @@LisaMergs suggested - get out and enjoy your free time! Go outside and color (the adult coloring books are fun), paint (or learn to paint/draw), take a nap in the fresh air, read a trashy novel, have tea and enjoy the peace and quiet! Get yourself a mani/pedi, get a new hairstyle, a facial - pamper yourself! You'll be back in the grind in no time!!!

I must be the laziest person on the planet, I haven't worked outside the home in 25 years :)

Seriously, we have 4 kids. They were in public school for a while. I had about 2 years of all of them being in school all day and it was heavenly (well, I volunteered a lot at their schools so that was busy) I loved, and still love, the times when I get to be home alone!

Then we decided to pull everyone out of school and homeschool, so I was busy with that for 11 years or so.

Now all the kids are grown up and I am focusing on me.

I am pre-surgery, it sounds like you are doing great!

I agree with Lisa, get out and walk (I have a couple of antique malls that I love to stroll around in, thinking about doing that this afternoon) journal, watch movies you have been wanting to watch for years, read (the library is always a fun outing)

I also want to go through my closet, organizing things by size. My guess is you have things in there that are already too big :)

Enjoy yourself!!

I should add that I wrote that, sitting out on my flower -laden front deck, short shorts on, basking in the sun, drinking a coconut Protein2O on ice doing absolutely "nothing". The two high school kids I have left at home will be pulling up in an hour with a myriad of nonsensical needs I'll have to attend to. Now I'm putting this phone and app down and closing my eyes.

See you all tonight.

Did I write this? Seriously, we have the same life. Ok, not the same, but similar. 3 kids. HS'd off and on but last year was my last year of doing it. My kids aren't all gone yet, but I'm home alone during the day and it's weird. I haven't figured out what to do yet. So far all I've done is watch a million and one vsg youtube videos, haha. My wood floors are on their way to being carpet--dog hair carpet .

Anyway, I don't meet many other women who have not worked in 20+ years. Mostly, I get a strange look when I say I don't work. LOL

I'm off work till next July. (Not medically related) I feel your pain of being bored and not having anything to do. I'm starting to quilt to make gifts for Christmas. Spend these last two weeks getting a jump on that or find something you really wanted to try but never had the time to. It really sucks having a limited income to boot but I'm making the best of it. The best feeling is having my two adult kids (19&20) getting up everyday and going to work to help their unemployed parents out :)

You don't live in the north Dallas burbs do you? If so we would just have to get together!

Our older 2 girls (23 and 25) are moved out but our 21 year old son and 18 year old daughter are still at home doing college, working, etc. But yes, they are gone a lot and don't really need my help anymore.

I have a plethora of stay-at-home mom friends but they tend to be 10-15 years younger than I am. Since most of them homeschool they are still busy with that. I do meet up with a group of them for lunch once a month or so but other than that I have way more free time on my hands than anyone I know.

lol about the Youtube videos! Girlfriend that is my life right now! I have lots of favorites, I am considering starting one myself. There are a couple I have sat and watched their entire library of videos, I feel like I know them.

I have a hairy dog and wood floors too.....hehehehehe

I have a bachelors in Social Work from Florida State (Go Noles!) and worked for 6 years prior to the birth of our oldest daughter in 1991. Now that I am done with the homeschooling I have been contemplating going back to work, but I don't want to do Social Work again so I will probably go back to school. I am considering something medical like x-ray technology or sonogram stuff but.......

I am too fat. There is no way I could stand all day, my legs and feet would kill me. So I am in the process of hopefully getting sleeved, then I know it will take some time to get the weight off, after which I can decide what my post stay-at-home mommy life will look like.

I feel blessed because my husband of 28 years is very supportive of me doing this. He is not overweight but has a strong family history of heart disease so he is always trying to eat healthier and get in more exercise as well. We plan to work on bettering our health together, hoping for another 28 more :)

At 6 weeks ?????

Horny, anxious, ready for change, counting the hours until my daily weigh-in....that's how I felt.

Come to think of it...........10+ months later............I pretty much feel the same, lol.

Laceemouse, sorry I'm all the way up in western WA state. Too bad, I could use a buddy to do stuff with. I struggle with going back to work, too. I may. I might go back to school. I have a BS in nutrition...maybe I should become a bariatric nutritionist, haha. (probably not). I do need to find something. I have a super supportive, no weight problem husband, too. He's awesome.

Youtube videos are funny that way. I know a few of those ladies VERY well...but they don't know me at all. But I'm super grateful for them.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
