i am staying on plan today because ...

Recommended Posts

I'm staying on plan today because I've eaten too much lately and I have my pre-op/lab hospital visit Monday the 17th and that's the day I start the liquid diet too! - I need to drop 5 lbs by next Monday to be at the same weight I was at when I got weighed at the dr's office 2 weeks ago! what a nightmare of food it's been lately - I would call it the "seafood" diet. I'm doing the low card right now, under 20 carbs/day - just to give it a headstart and hopefully drop a few pounds.

I'm staying on plan today because I finally had to admit to myself that I can't eat just one cookie, or have just one scoop of ice cream, or just a nibble of my dad's wonderful peanut brittle. If I am going to be fully commited to a new lifestyle, I need to eliminate what is not good for me. Bye-bye, sugar:rofl:

...because when I weighed this morning I had dipped below the 250 mark, in the 240's!!!!!

It's been 10 years since I was this weight, and I'm not done yet! Goal weight, here I come!

I am staying on plan because I am able to eat more at the moment and want to lose more weight, not gain any of what I have lost already.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
