Pre surgery weight loss

Recommended Posts

@@paul12677 Many people have weight loss requirements either from their insurance or their surgeon. I would recommend going with a high protein/low carb diet (similar to how you will be eating post-op) and making sure you are drinking at least 64 ozs of non-caloric drinks. Get rid of the high calorie drinks, soda (even diet), Pasta, rice, breads, Cookies, sweets, etc. Depending on how much you lose with that - you may end up having to do a Meal Replacement shake for at least one meal. Try eating at least 3 times a day (3 hours or more in between) - don't graze, don't skip a meal. Avoid fast foods - prepare yourself for what you will eat during the day/week and have everything available.

It's not easy but if you put your mind to it - you can do it!!! Men lose quicker than most women - so you have that on your side.

@@KristenLe thank you so much for the support and details.. I have made a lot of small changes, and now need the push to take it to the next level! I will certainly continue to push forward.. I did it put it on over night and can't expect results overnight! Best of luck to you on your Journey.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
