Pregnancy on my mind - 10 weeks

Recommended Posts

I'm 10 weeks post op and have pregnancy on my mind 24/7. I want to get pregnant so bad. I went back on the pill after surgery (haven't had a period in a year and a half) and I had it once for 4 days since I started the pill again. I'm worried that I'm not ovulating and never will. I have PCOS - no cysts, but the hair, no periods and the weight. I'm down 43 pounds.

@@charley27 It would be extremely dangerous for you and the baby if you got pregnant anytime in the near future. It takes longer than 10 weeks for PCOS symptoms to go away. Even without PCOS, your periods would be all out of whack at this point anyway - with the hormone dump from fat burning/weight loss. Concentrate on your health, losing weight (pregnancy at your weight would be high risk as well - regardless of having weight loss surgery) and be safe until it's healthy to consider a pregnancy.

When was the last time you spoke to your gynecologist about this?

Make an appointment and discuss these issues with them. They can certainly let you know if you are ovulating or not.

I too had pregnancy on my mind when I was deciding to have WLS. I had not had my period in a year. No PCOS either. I have been regular again since surgery thankfully. I am shocked by how rapidly that happened for me and curious to see if it continues as I move forward in my journey.

I'm looking into freezing my eggs so I can focus on my health and put off pregnancy until I am at my goal weight and maintaining and am really excelling at my new healthier lifestyle.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
