DQ cheat -- dang it! Help!

Hey everyone,

I'm in bandster hell waiting for my first fill on 9/25 and last night I had a medium Kit Kat blizzard. OMG it was so good. And now I want to cheat more. You all know this one -- well, I've already cheated so...

How do you all get back on the right track? It's so hard after a sugar cheat because it brings back ALL the cravings I've worked so hard to eliminate. I feel like such an idiot!

Advice, please!

doc said not to get wigged out--no longer have to be afraid of food!! so you ate some icecream--one potion out of a lifetime--and I am sure not as much as you have eaten before--don't be soooo hard on yourself!!! Tomorrow is another day of choices....

I have done the same thing . Ice cream is my down fall. I eat it . Once a week But I don,t eat alot . I try to walk alittle more . Lately I have been eating a protien with frozen berries and instant pudding 2 tbl choc. in a blender this helps 1 cup skin milk with that Taste like a shake cuts that part of the cravings Paul

Get yourself some sugar free fudgesicles. not as good as a blizzard, but for me they hit the spot in the evenings when I am craving sweets.

I too am an ice cream fiend!!!!!! I love it and can't stop once I start! SO, you guessed it...I just have to lay off of it! I've replaced it with the 60 cal Jello puddings...they are surprisingly decadent!

Anywhooo...back to you...you stopped after one medium blizzard! Pat yourself on the back!!! Even give yourself a little cheer! That in and of itself is a BIG step to self control! THEN you came on here and posted your weak feelings...instead of heading back to DQ! Way to go!!!!! And heck...if you did end up raiding the freezer after posting...this is just ONE DAY in your journey. Like others have posted...we need to stop being afraid of food. This will take time and as you get your fills and acheive optimal restriction, it will become easier. BUT, like me, if you LOVE ice cream, this will be a harder battle, as ice cream slides ever so heavenly through the band...(and lands hellishly on our butts!).

Hang in there...band hell won't last forever :)

Hi newgirl I am waiting for my first fill also and I have been more hungry. I had a couple of Cookies yesterday and did feel guilty but I made a bad choice and plan on doing better today. Having the Cookies in the house for me is a big mistake and I wont do that again.

Today is a new day so hang in there.

Well said Musical Momma! I share the love of ice cream myself. That decadent dessert got me where I am today! Finding better choices is my goal! Commending New Girl on her effort to come on here and post her weakness was wise. It isn't easy to admit your faults. Well done New Girl! Continue to take your journey ONE day at a time!

Once you start to lose, and see the scale moving, that's a big incentive too.

Ice cream is my biggest downfall too, but I work so hard to drop a couple of

lbs and can gain it back immediately if I eat it.

i know what you mean about "awakening the giant" once you start eating sweets.

after surgery i was off sugar for weeks. and then once i started...it caused me to have cravings again.

what i did was just focus on the day...and say i wouldnt eat it for the day. once i got through that day...the next was a little easier. i forget how many days it takes to break the craving but like denise822 said...once you start losing....it just gives extra incentive.

but i do believe the craving goes away if we stay away from it.

i use the weght watchers fudgsicles when i crave sweets. they are only 110 cals and taste great. but they too will trigger sugar cravings

With few exceptions, finding a lower-calorie substitute works well as a behavior modification.

In areas that do not work well with substitutions, abstinence is really the only way to do it.

I agree with Jack when he states that the longer a person is away from something, the less they will miss it. I had to do that with Butterfinger bars, because that was the one food that I simply had no control over.

I posted this about that:

I am in mourning.

Mourning something that I loved for 51 years.

Something that brought me extreme pleasure, joy, comfort and satisfaction.

Something that I thought would never hurt me, never criticize me, never let me down.

Something that I loved.

Butterfingers.

Oh, how I loved them, their chocolate, the taste of crunchy-crisp sweet peanut.

I was hopelessly addicted to them.

But then one day I woke up and realized something.

Butterfingers were not my friend.

They were CONTROLLING me.

Keeping me FAT.

Making me MISERABLE.

Making me feel WEAK.

Taking my POWER AWAY FROM ME.

So I did the only thing that I KNEW would work.

I let them go.

And it's NOT EASY.

And I STRUGGLE with the TEMPTATION

AND IT'S HARD TO LET GO.

But I just keep reminding myself that I promised ME that I would do WHATEVER IT TAKES.

WHATEVER IT TAKES.

And in this case, IT TAKES LETTING GO.

I went through a MONTH of binging, bought soft foods that go down easily, etc... lost no weight whatsoever, I had it coming, I know.

This helped me get back on track, I got an idea from a website, and I tweeked it to my needs, it is a piece of paper with big black letters that says...

AM I...

...STRESSED?

...TIRED?

...BORED?

...TEMPTED?

...or hungry?

I would assume (for me at least) kit kat blizzard would fall into the catagory of "tempted" seeing as how awesome they look in commercial and in person, and how cool they sound, and how great they look in my head as I type this. haha

anyways, when I see that big blaring note on my fridge, its not like an accusation, its like a (metiphorically) councelor saying "hey", - "talk to me" being myself???

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, sorry, it is 1 am an I really should be sleeping. But anyways, it looked stupid, but its been one of the most helpful tools I've had so far in fighting my mental "starving" demons.
