I had GVS Feb. 23, 2016. The last two weeks I've been sooo cold. It's particularly bad at night, when I first ho to bed. I've only lost 65lbs and am still at a 40 BMI. I thought this might be an issue when I'm "skinny" but I still have about 100lb to lose! Anyone else encounter this with their weigh loss?

Yep, had mine in May (Australian winter) and I always have cold hand and feet. Drive my darling hubby mad putting them on him trying to warm them up. I have lost 28 kilos (61 pounds) and still have another 20 kilos to go!

Fat is a good insulator. As I lost fat I was much more susceptible to the cold. Thank God someone invented the hand warmers, otherwise it would really be painful shoveling the snow during the winter.

Oh my yes! My surgery was 10-14, I've lost about 63 lbs, I freeze all the time! It's 92* out and I'm inside with an afghan on me.

Seems everywhere I go I need my sweater with me.

I haven't had that issue, but I know it's really common

I was also surprised how fast I became cold all the time! I thought it might happen after I lost a lot of fat, but it started after just a couple of weeks into my pre-op diet and has continued for the last 7 months.

My theory is that it's not lost fat (although that's probably a contributing factor over time), but that it is lower quantities of food. Less fuel for the fire so to speak.

Whatever the issue is, I am freezing ALL THE TIME. It's totally worth it, but it's not an insignificant side effect. I'm always worried about having enough layers. Always planning out what clothes I need to bring if I'll be out after sundown, etc. Winter is going to be tough!!

And like many others, I used to be hot all the time.

It's common. I started out at 429lb and a sw of 386lbs and I shivered and shook my way through to where I am. I notice even now as I lose, I get chills still. Invest in pretty sweaters and jackets especially if you are in the upper half of the world because winter is coming and you are gonna shake and shiver those pounds right off!

Probably after I lost my first 60lbs I noticed how terribly cold I was all the time, unless of course I was having a hot flash. LOL.

Now 152lbs lighter I find myself wearing a jacket or sweater even in the summertime. I use my husband to warm up my fingers and toes and he is constantly checking to see if I am dead or not.

He swears I am.

Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate hearing I'm not the only one. So strange to me because I was at the weight before, and was not cold.

I have to agree with msujester, maybe it's lack of fuel, or the body burning up what it has to remove the fat? Either way, it happened way sooner than I expected! And yes, I live in North Dakota. It's getting chilly already so I'm gearing up for a lot of layers as winter approaches.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
