KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 5, 2016 Are you getting enough fluids? You may be dehydrated which is dangerous.
sluv912 2 Posted September 5, 2016 You know what no I haven't because I haven't been thirsty or when I drink Water my stomach feels weird like I can feel the Water going in my stomach. I've been eating the chicken broth and my doctor said only to have 60 grams of Protein which is 2 ounces of a Protein shake but how is that supposed to work? Sorry I have all these questions I'm scared to even go outside Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Is it suppose to be 60 grams for the whole day? Cuz that sucks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Most of the Protein shakes are 20 to 30 grams for the entire shake so you should be having several shakes a day. But the main thing they worry about this shortly after surgery is getting enough Fluid, you need to call your doctor and ask how much water you should be taking in. It doesn't matter if you don't feel thirsty, you need to be sipping water most of the day to get enough fluids in. It sounds like they didn't explain that to you very well. The number one complication after surgery is dehydration, lots of people end up back in the hospital on IV fluids. Take care!

KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 5, 2016 @@sluv912 Get your fluids in all day - broth, Powerade Zero, Vitamin Water Zero, crystal light, Decaf tea, sugar free popsicles. Also - the 60 gms of Protein would be 2-3 full Protein Shakes. You can sip them over an hour. You don't have to wait to drink other liquids before or after the shakes either. The headache and dizziness is definitely from dehydration and you need to increase fluids asap.
sluv912 2 Posted September 6, 2016 Thanks so much for the info my nutritionist is on vacation right after I had surgery and she left me with a packet that's not very clear. I have been dehydrated so it makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much for the info! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
