Any coffee drinkers in the house?

Recommended Posts

I have coffee. I mix half and half with fairlife milk and I use stevia most of the time - my Daddy used to call it "baby coffee" but it is what I like. I have a 20 ounce "cup" of it every day once I got past my first month I think? anyway. as soon as the team said I could

@@nicugal36,

I wondered about caffeine's diuretic impact. Thanks for sharing. I do get dehydrated as I do not enjoy Water that much. I try to limit myself to no more than two cups of coffee per day. I love the Chike coffee Protein Shake as well. I was a huge caffeine addict...going from coffee straight to diet soft drinks all day long. I still crave the ice cold and carbonation but have not had a diet soft drink in almost 4 months.

My surgeon allowed coffee both pre and post surgery as long as it didn't bother my stomach.....and it never did.....I drink coffee all morning then go to hot Earl Gray Tea....and back to coffee after dinner.< /p>

We are told caffeine can interfere with Calcium and some Vitamin absorption. It can also cause ulcers. Our plan recommends staying away from caffeine but Decaf coffee is fine. I am sure alot of people continue to have caffeine though. Just be careful with staying hydrated post-op (if you have caffeine - you should increase decaffeinated liquids to make up for it.

@@Michee It sounds like many people are trying it. Or maybe a modified version.

My surgeon did not want me to stop coffee, as he was concerned about caffeine withdrawals.

So, I had coffee since 1st day post op, and never had any issues with it.

I drink it daily, have regular brewed coffee with Stevia and milk in the mornings, and from lunch time or early afternoon I switch to Decaf. Otherwise, full strength regular coffee would keep me awake at night.

coffee is not a diuretic. This has been disproved by numerous studies. I have never been dehydrated and I have been drinking coffee since 6 weeks.

I drink coffee everyday, I'm sipping on some right now. I enjoy it the same as before, maybe more because it is my only "vice" if coffee can even be considered a vice. I was never consuming coffee with sugar before. Never used fake Creamers. My coffee is pretty clean.

I don't add Protein to it because well, I'm never short on Protein and heat with most protein doesn't mix. When I drink iced coffee, I will add protein every once in a while.

I do suggest if you are going to drink coffee, especially in the first 6 months, opt for something low acid, like a cold brew or a coffee that specifically says low acid. The acid in coffee is more of a concern than the caffeine or any imagined diuretic effects.

Seeing the clumps of Protein Powder I cannot imagine shaking it and drinking it later. Maybe it works for some. My husband drank a pot of coffee each morning post sleeve, and I drank one cup. No problems whatsoever.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
