Choosing a Protein Powder

Recommended Posts

I was told just to make sure it says isolate Protein powder. I think the worst part of this whole process was the 2 week liquid diet before. Enjoy your last week eating and chewing real food. I had to chew gum because I missed it. You can drink your after surgery shakes on that liquid diet. I had to drink 5 carnation instant sugar free. Breakfast shakes. I liked the vanilla one better. But what saved me was the Bariatric Advantage strawberry shortcake Protein Powder.< /p>

There is a website BariatricChoice.com that sells really tasty items. I look for high Protein and then read the reviews to decide which to choose. I spent $100 and have loved everything I purchased from Gelatin to Syntrax to Soups to berry flavors

to add to my Water. I will have my surgery sept 13 and think I am prepared.

I went by a mix of all things you mentioned. My favorite is the stuff the first commenter posted from Walmart in the chocolate version. I also get the Cappuccino flavour from bariatric pal although its a bit too sweet. Also an excellent protien drink that no one talks about on this site although its what my surgeon requires pre and post op is Isopure. Its clear protien that you can get at GNC. They are expensive but lot of Protein

I am pre-opt (just waiting for my phone call to see the Dr for my date), I have yet to try a Protein Shake, in our class they spoke about most of the patients favorites being Premier Protein and nectar. I have drank Protein in the past but, I couldn't get past the chalkiness and the clumps that would not dissolve not matter how much I blended it together. I am also afraid to buy such a big jar of protein and end up not liking it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
