Weight stall after hospital stay

Recommended Posts

So I lost 15 lbs week one but ended up in the hospital for dehydration. I got many liters of fluids so I knew I would come out weighing more. (Water weight) however, I've been out of the hospital for 3 days now and still haven't dropped a pound!!! Anyone else stop losing week 2? I know it's only been 3 days but I'm getting discouraged because of how fast it was coming off right after surgery.

I would think a lot of that 15 lbs was Water weight so now it has been replaced. Give your body time to heal and adjust. Follow your plan and don't rush yourself mentally. Your body is going to do what it needs to.

I was admitted to the hospital a week after surgery and they pumped me so much of fluids I had an extra 8 liters of Fluid. It took about a week to get rid of it. Just keep walking to get the Fluid moving.

Stay off the scale for a while. Especially if it upsets you. I put mine in the closet and now take it out once a week

I'm 4 weeks post op and I've stalled since I started eating meat only chicken and fish. Although I'm slightly constipated and dehydrated I've gained 2 lbs.

The gain is most likely from Constipation and dehydration (which is probably why you are constipated). You really need to meet your Fluid goals.

I had my sleeve Friday and this morning I got on the scale for the 1st time it said 193.2 the day of surgery it was 189? You would think it would be the opposite.

That's extremely common. You are pumped with tons of fluids, you're swollen and are recovering from a major surgery. It's not at all unusual to gain weight after surgery. You need to stick with your plan and don't weigh yourself.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
