KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 3, 2016 Just continue to sip - you'll get there. Try crystal light, broth, Powerade Zero, sugar free popsicles, Decaf tea, etc. Good luck!
blu2020 79 Posted September 3, 2016 Supposed to drink 4 Protein shakes. It just seems like alot Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 3, 2016 (edited) Try and drink a small amount every 15-20 mins. You could put Protein Powder in fluids - it might be easier to drink than a thick shake.< /p> Edited September 3, 2016 by KristenLe
cccdenise 19 Posted September 4, 2016 I filled the fridge with lots of choices. Boy how the taste change. My dr recommended preimer Protein shakes. 30 g Protein. 80 g per day. The liquid counted as my 64 oz Fluid. I had to do room temp Water for a while. Discovered orange crush Water additives yesterday. Yum yum Denise~Macon, GA

ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted September 4, 2016 Really, your whole life should be centered around those Fluid and Protein goals right now...I sipped constantly during the first week. Try any Water additive that appeals to you to help get it down, and if you're drinking crystal light or lukewarm broth, add unflavored Protein to help with that goal as well. The shakes do the job, but they can be heavy and hard to get in...I didn't have any temperature issues with my sleeve immediately post-op, so I dumped my shakes into the blender with some ice and blended it all together to lighten the texture of the Protein Drink. It helped a lot early on.

ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted September 4, 2016 I knew immediately if I was pushing too hard with fluids...a quick, sharp pain from my stomach was my signal. Once you figure out what that limit is, it's easier. It gets better, and once you're a couple of months out this will all seem like it's a LONG time ago. Good luck and congrats on being on the 'loser side'!
trekker954 421 Posted September 4, 2016 Hate peppermint tea, but saved me first few days, mixed in GENEPRO. Had to put crystal lite, ice tea for Water. Could not handle regular Water until nearly three weeks out I can drink water as before Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted September 4, 2016 @@blu2020 I could definitely tell when I drank too fast...I accidentally gulped about 3 huge swallows of Water just a couple of weeks post-op and after an excruciating cramp, it all came right back up! @@Omieliz You won't feel restriction with fluids the way you do with food. It's hard to understand what the feeling is like until you have it, it's completely different from the pain some of us get if we drink too fast early on. For me, my restriction is like a switch that flips...I'm eating and enjoying my small, slow meal and then all of a sudden, I'm done.
