What happens after day 30?!

Recommended Posts

So I'm getting close to my 1 month post op, which means I'll be done with the puree stage and move on to soft foods. So what does that mean exactly, I'll be stuck on the soft stage forever? Or is there another stage after that?! Also any suggestions on what I can eat on the soft stage?!

Real food in small portions. Try one item at a time to see if you can tolerate it. After you find stuff that you can't tolerate, try that food again in a couple of weeks.

For me, after the Soft/Mushy stage I gradually went onto more solid type food, regular food with lot of sauce and moisture, and still mostly Protein and very low carb.

In the soft stage I ate yoghurt, soft cheeses, tried scrambled egg but it did not agree with me. Haven't tried a poached egg yet.

I also ate poached salmon and chicken/turkey minces with cheese sauces.

Beef mince did not agree with me, however veal and lamb mince were OK.

So basically, this means soft type food, not too dry or tough to chew.

I also well cooked tougher vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli. Made sure they were very soft.

Zucchini was soft, so I did not blast it as long as the other veggies.

Did you get a diet/food plan from your NUT?

Mine gave me a complete food plan for each stage.

Good luck and enjoy new tastes.

After you go though the last stage you're eating normal foods.....but sticking to an eating plan that helps you to continue to lose weight...for me that's low carb......but I can eat anything. I've not found any food that I can't tolerate.....My plan progressed through the stages quicker than yours, rather than a specific time frame for each it said "progress as tolerated.".....

As far as what to eat in the soft stage, like @ said you should have a plan from your NUT.....but think of it as if you are feeding a toddler....anything soft and easily chewed should be fine.....just take very small bites and chew very very well....you want the food to be like a baby food consistency before you swallow it.

I hope this helps. Good luck to you!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
