AC3 51 Posted September 3, 2016 Today, I had my first nutritionist appt!!! One down, 2 more to go. She just went over things with me. She basically told me my BMI is 40.1. I'm JUST qualified. She said, "I know I'm not supposed to say this because I'm a dietician BUT if you lose anymore weight they will deny you." Holy moly. if I lose anymore than one pound I'll be denied. It sucks but I need to make sure i don't lose too much. Has anyone been in my shoes?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
kelliev2015 136 Posted September 3, 2016 Yep. My BMI was 35.4 when I started and I had 6 months of medically supervised weight loss. I couldn't lose more than a pound or two for 6 months and I could gain either. I ended up at 35.1 when they submitted to insurance. You just need to work with your nutritionist to figure out how many calories a day you need to maintain. Be sure and track all of your food. Worst case, if you lose too much, wear ankle weights to your last appointment. [emoji6]
AC3 51 Posted September 3, 2016 She told me to just practice on eating how it says in the binder but she's like, "I didn't say anything about Portion Control right now." Lmao Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
pammelad 6 Posted September 5, 2016 My doctor (and the nut confirmed) that the initial weigh in is the only weight that counted for insurance approval. I have the option of losing now or not. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
