Nectar vs Isopure unflavored

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this sounds stupid since they're both unflavored, but does one taste better than the other? In my experience, the flavored Isopure has a strong Protein powder type taste. Is the unflavored the same? Is it creamy? What about nectar? I'm pre-op and trying to pick one for mixing with whatever both pre and post op in case I hate the sweet flavors afterward.

none of the nectar flavors I've tried have that Protein taste (at least to me), but admittedly, I haven't tried the unflavored one

For what it's worth...I was a HUGE Isopure fan pre-op. Post-op, I literally could not get it past my lips. I liked Syntrax for a very brief couple of weeks post-op, and I can't stand it now.

I'm a GENEPRO fan now, no smell, no taste, doesn't change the consistency of food.

Whatever you do, don't over-invest in anything pre-op, because almost everyone's taste changes after surgery. You can get samples of lots of different Protein powders on several websites, and that's a good way to go.

Absolutely. But with high probability of leftover powdered Protein, I thought the unflavored was a safe-ish investment!

Great question. I'm pre op and been asking the same thing. About Vitamins and Protein. I did get some samples of unjury Protein and I think I'm going to invest in GENEPRO because i can add it to walk if yhats all I can get down. Wish you luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
