Theresa.86 1 Posted September 2, 2016 How long did anyone wait until they had a drink? I could use a glass of wine!! If you did drink, any recommendations on what to and not to drink?
Dub 9,922 Posted September 2, 2016 Try doing a search for alcohol and then get ready to read all sorts of views. I waited until third month.
smg 471 Posted September 2, 2016 I waited about the same as @@Dub, maybe a little less, but only had a few sips of wine. I don't think I would've been able to get down a whole glass at that point. I'd definitely stay away from beer and other carbonated beverages though. I will reiterate what I tend to in these threads, and that is to be aware of the fact that alcohol is simply empty calories. So soon after surgery, those calories are valuable as you can't consume very many, so you have to make a choice where to "spend" them, and alcohol gives nothing in return (as far as your weight loss is concerned ). Also, I made sure I cleared with doc first, and first try was at home in case things "didn't go well". Best of luck
Selkie216 8 Posted September 2, 2016 I waited until nearly 4 months and then had a very small homemade raspberry gin. It was the only thing that didn't need a mixer.
Janey B 28 Posted September 3, 2016 I was told by my surgeon to wait 6 months, and not to have a beer for at least a year due to the carbonation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
