mylapspirit 2 Posted August 30, 2007 Hi all, how long does it take to get rid of the fluids they put in your body at the hospital before and after your surgery? I was up 8 pounds when I came home and want to lose that Fluid asap. thanks, shelli:ranger:
Iluvharleys 15 Posted August 30, 2007 It only took me a few days, and it all went away! Welcome to bandland!
SD Chick 0 Posted August 30, 2007 It took 4-5 days for me and then wham it was gone. I guess we all have to learn to be patient with our bodies as I am on full food now and am NOT losing at all - Patience is what I lack. and I just had to push my fill date back another week but have something more important to take care of on the original date and I have the rest of my life to get fills. patience - Mary Ellen - patience

COASTALGRL 0 Posted August 30, 2007 I was also just banded 8/28 I didn't gain from fluids, my complaint is I feelthat my chest is tight. I don't know if that is gas or what. I have so much fear, I don't want anything to go wrong. I am also bruised around the sites and my I.V. placement. Anyone out there feel as if they have bricks on their chest? BandZski 1 Posted August 30, 2007 I had surgery on monday. I am so very nauseus. I took some Maalox and threw it up. I don't feel like drinking anything, but am forcing myself to have at least a little bit of Gator Ade or CIB. Any suggestions? I'm worried about my band. I have had the dry heaves a couple of times, but only threw up the one time.
COASTALGRL 0 Posted August 30, 2007 Be sure and keep yourself hydrated. If you can't keep fluids down I would call your doctor.
Sue Magoo 71 Posted August 31, 2007 Shelli: I gained 9 pounds from surgery. I lost it in six days and then continued downward. Try not to be too discouraged by the temporary gain. I was shocked when it happened to me. I didn't know that this would happen. Now make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Crazy, but fluids take excess fluids away. I try to think of Water being the surfboard that my fat rides out on, so keep on drinking. Good luck. Sue Magoo

He should give you some antinausea medicine asap. Let us know how you are making out! shelli:girl_hug:

I am not too worried about the weight gain except for the bloat. My stomach is so bloated. Here I go to drink some water with lemon. Thanks for writing. shelli:ranger:
Candle 11 Posted August 31, 2007 I weighed myself for the first time yesterday and I was up 4 lbs :tired Part of the bloat might be the gas - my tummy still feels pretty hard. I had surgery on monday. I also suggest calling your doctor. Maybe breath in a little rubbing alcohol - that seems to work for me. I too was VERY nauseous the whole night after surgery. I threw up once and had many dry heaves - luckily that subsided before I went home on Tues. My doctor didn't seem concerned about my band placement - don't worry!
