daisygirl99 27 Posted August 31, 2016 I'm sitting here in the parking lot waiting to go see the surgeon for my first visit. Gastric surgery is something I have wanted and needed for awhile. This is the first time it has been covered by my insurance. I just hope I don't run into any snafus. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
sey1008 43 Posted August 31, 2016 I was so nervous! No worries. They just checked me in and made a patient profile, I met the surgeon and discussed and decided on which surgery I wanted. He checked my belly button, felt my belly, checked for swelling on my legs, and discussed what they did laproscopically. He then brought me to a patient coordinator who discussed what my insurance required of me, scheduled a few appointments, and I was on my way! Easy peasy and comfortable! Andrew0929 1,101 Posted August 31, 2016 It's natural to be nervous, but you should be excited too. Your life is about to change for the better... Go for it and don't look back.
KaiserKid 81 Posted August 31, 2016 I just had my first appt with nutritionist and psych. They referred me to the surgeon who I am seeing next week. Like you, I am also nervous, but also so happy. I'm still a little nervous re: my insurance, but the surgical coordinator didn't seem too concerned. It all seems so daunting and scary, but I've sort of been living by the saying "get comfortable with being uncomfortable" in this journey. So if I'm nervous, or scared or anxious, it means it's working for me because it's something new! Best of luck to you, I know you will be great!
daisygirl99 27 Posted September 16, 2016 It does seem daunting and scary, I agree. I am just so happy to have the opportunity to have the surgery that I keep expecting something bad to happen that I won't get to have it.
