Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted August 30, 2016 Have you tried any other brands like premier Protein, Syntrax, Quest, or GNC? If you have a GNC or Vitamin Shoppe nearby, see if you can get a variety of single-serves to try.

I do Protein drinks instead of shakes. I couldn't stomach the shakes. My most tolerated one is by trimino and it is the strawberry lemonade. I add a bit more unflavored Protein Powder to them so I get more protein since they are only 7 grams of protein per drink. There are also other brands that make flavored Protein Drinks with more protein in them like isopure. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Djmohr 6,965 Posted August 30, 2016 I have to say, the only Protein in can tolerate is in the form of a ready made shake. Premier Protein (chocolate). It has 30 grams of Protein in 11oz. 1 gram of sugar and 160 calories. I spent so much money on protein powders before and after surgery and just gagged on them until I found premier which I still use today 2 years later. I am picky with protein.....the only shake I really like is the chocolate. I have tried the vanilla and strawberry but they are a bit too sweet for me. mbnurse 28 Posted August 30, 2016 What I could tolerate pre-op and post-op were different. Pre-op I could tolerate Syntrax nectar, premier Protein strawberry, and Isopure. Post op all I have been able to tolerate is chocolate Premier Protein. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Djmohr 6,965 Posted August 30, 2016 @@mbnurse It is strange how things change. I am with you, the only thing I tolerate and tolerate well is premier Protein chocolate. Everything else is too sweet or gritty or smelly.LOL Before surgery my surgeon had me on carnation instant Breakfast. YUCK....talk about too much sugar. Marissa.Ann.C 21 Posted August 30, 2016 My NUT wants me to try premier Protein. I'm hoping the pre made drinks are better. Anyone know where I can buy samples? Like one bottle of each flavor? I can get a variety pack on Amazon but it's 12 bottles and $30 dollars and I haven't even tried it yet so I don't wanna waste money. gina171 626 Posted August 30, 2016 You can buy 4-packs of a single flavor at Walmart and many grocery stores (i.e.: Harris Teeter in the south). Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
DRKExpressions 47 Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) I had surgery on the Aug 15th and I to have problems with Protein. But I worry about with you is that you really have to drink a lot of Protein after sir surgery. Not only that week before surgery but after you have like two weeks of liquids and then another couple weeks of mush and those weeks all consist of protein drinks. Also your tast change a lot after surgery. Anyway here's a picture of what I like. I must say it's not the greatest but it's something I can tolerate. The blue is horrible! I use the red one. GNC sells it or online. Also muscle milk is good especially the banana it's more expensive but it's really good. Good luck and thanks! 267/243/224 Surgery date 08/15/16 Edited August 30, 2016 by DRKExpressions
Marissa.Ann.C 21 Posted August 30, 2016 I've tried the Isopure. It's not horrible. I'd rather find something I like better but I'll tolerate that if I have to. My main thing about it is it leaves a nasty film in your mouth when you drink it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Marissa.Ann.C 21 Posted August 30, 2016 Just wanted to post this for people in the future... If you go to the premier Protein website you can buy single bottles in each flavor for $2.79 each. When you subscribe you get 10% off your first order. I think I'll do this to try out the flavors! Thank goodness, I just can't justify spending $30-$40 on something that I might hate. You can get 3 single bottles for under $10! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Djmohr 6,965 Posted August 31, 2016 Yes, you can get 4 packs at Walmart and some Walgreens stores. At costco, you get 18 per case instead of 12, they are 24.99 right now which I believe is 5.00 off but that changes back to 29.99 at the end of August.
