I had my gastric sleeve on 8/26, so I am only 3 days post-op. I am currently on phase 2 liquid diet. The problem in having is that anytime I try to drink my Protein shake, it really bothers my stomach and I can't even get half way through it. Cold Water goes down fine. In just scared I'm not getting the required 50 - 60 grams of Protein a day I'm suppose to be.

Try doing it slower, i had my surgery on 8/25 and i was getting a bit nauseous as well, what i had to learn to do is to control myself and go slow. and it usually works. now it goes down, not easily or tasty but it goes down and it stays down!

I was supposed to aim for 20-30 grams of Protein at that point, and struggled to make that. 50-60 seems ambitious...

I'm 6 days out and supposed to be aiming for 60-90 grams a day. I managed to get to 35 today.

try warm broth and unflavored Protein powder

Ditto. You have to mix it up. I could not do shakes for a week or so after surgery. Now back though one flavor is still off for me.

broth Water Jello try Protein in as many different options as you can to find the right fight for you-- and know it may change from day to day or week to week.

I remember those first couple days.....

I only tried for 1-2 ounces of Protein shake per hour and sipped Water in between.

It took a few days to get up to having two Premier Protein shakes per day.

Don't try to rush it....you'll get there.

Don't worry about it . Everyone's different . Don't force yourself to consume out of fear. The targets are to aim for not as an immediate goal. I'm five weeks post and still have to go slow things are getting better day by day . Make sure you get a good liquid multi Vitamin and mineral complex daily and drink as much fluids as you can. You can only do this by constantly sipping. Fluid is more important than food . Best wishes xox

That was almost a month ago. Have you told your Dr? You need nutrition to heal and to live. You need Protein, it is not optional.

@@jurisjitsu If you're truly getting NO Protein, you need to see your surgeon ASAP. Are you taking in any fluids at all? If you are, you can mix an unflavored protein powder with that Fluid to get something in. You HAVE to have protein.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
