mrivero 0 Posted August 30, 2016 I had my gastric sleeve on 8/26, so I am only 3 days post-op. I am currently on phase 2 liquid diet. The problem in having is that anytime I try to drink my Protein shake, it really bothers my stomach and I can't even get half way through it. Cold Water goes down fine. In just scared I'm not getting the required 50 - 60 grams of Protein a day I'm suppose to be. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Isadora Brito 1 Posted August 30, 2016 Try doing it slower, i had my surgery on 8/25 and i was getting a bit nauseous as well, what i had to learn to do is to control myself and go slow. and it usually works. now it goes down, not easily or tasty but it goes down and it stays down! GoldUnicornThread 16 Posted August 30, 2016 I was supposed to aim for 20-30 grams of Protein at that point, and struggled to make that. 50-60 seems ambitious... Sent from my HTC6525LVW using the BariatricPal App
Leather'nLace 187 Posted August 30, 2016 I'm 6 days out and supposed to be aiming for 60-90 grams a day. I managed to get to 35 today. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
chycky 671 Posted August 30, 2016 try warm broth and unflavored Protein powder Ditto. You have to mix it up. I could not do shakes for a week or so after surgery. Now back though one flavor is still off for me. broth Water Jello try Protein in as many different options as you can to find the right fight for you-- and know it may change from day to day or week to week. Dub 9,922 Posted August 30, 2016 I remember those first couple days..... I only tried for 1-2 ounces of Protein shake per hour and sipped Water in between. It took a few days to get up to having two Premier Protein shakes per day. Don't try to rush it....you'll get there.
MzJinx92 0 Posted August 30, 2016 Try Premier Protein shakes they taste good not gritty because they are pre-made with 30g of Protein in an 11oz carton. Also try the unflavored Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
mohairbears 37 Posted August 30, 2016 Don't worry about it . Everyone's different . Don't force yourself to consume out of fear. The targets are to aim for not as an immediate goal. I'm five weeks post and still have to go slow things are getting better day by day . Make sure you get a good liquid multi Vitamin and mineral complex daily and drink as much fluids as you can. You can only do this by constantly sipping. Fluid is more important than food . Best wishes xox Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted August 31, 2016 @@jurisjitsu That was almost a month ago. Have you told your Dr? You need nutrition to heal and to live. You need Protein, it is not optional.
ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted August 31, 2016 @@jurisjitsu If you're truly getting NO Protein, you need to see your surgeon ASAP. Are you taking in any fluids at all? If you are, you can mix an unflavored protein powder with that Fluid to get something in. You HAVE to have protein.
