Anyone having a lot of gas & RUmblings???

Recommended Posts

Is it common for your Stomach "Noises" to wake you up at night...???

I was at work the other day and the gal sitting at the next computer turned and said "wow, you'd better eat something you sound starved"!

its really weird? I dont' remember being this noisy before surgery?

Not that its a huge problem, I am still happy for the restriction and weight loss.

:rain:

I was told that the rumbling noises are not from hunger. It is coming from the bowel.I always thought it was because i was hungry.

Thanks peaches9.It varies.I try to eat healthy. chicken veggies, fruit. etc.I slip now and then. I swore i would not diet again when i got this band because for 35 years i have been dieting and i am sick of it. So i just eat a little bit of whatever.I am not planning on getting down to 130 lbs just enough (150)so i am not obese. Right now i am running on empty so it will be harder for me to lose . It is strictly WILLPOWER now. It is hard.

Perhaps now is the time to increase the Protein and add some "danger" foods. I gradually added all kinds of foods but I still eat in small portions, eat slowly and I feel so much better. Will power is not a factor since I have what I want just not as much or as often as I use to since I plan on NEVER being obese again. You're doing great!

Yes Peaches,

I have had a noisey stomach and increased burping. Sue at the clinic said that it is common. Good luck with the rumblings!!

I too have gas and rumbling. Think it is from the carbs that produce gas. I find the gas particularly embarrassing when I am out. I find that if I pretend nothing has occurrec and stare at the poor joe beside me, I can avoid comments! More oft than not though, I am polite and say excuse me and run like h... to the B/R. LOL

LOL, yes, I have experienced more gas (not fun) and rumblings... though I think the extra rumbling kind of funny! Ever notice that you can feel and sometimes hear the food dropping from your pouch into the bottom portion of your stomach... that makes me laugh too... simple things amuse me :)

Hi Lferlad. Yes, I can feel the food moving from the pouch to the stomach but can also "feel" the food when it sticks. Even then as I writher in pain, I smile because I know I have not chewed my food and the band is letting me have it. Like you I am amused by the finicky band and I am loving every moment as I watch the scales go down. Slowly but surely, my bad habits are improving so a bit of "fluffing", "burping" "gurgling" is soooooooooooooo worth it. I was also banded in February so I guess we are "solemates". Doddie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
