Hello everyone!

I had Sleeve surgery on 9/26/15, I was 296 lbs and I am currently down to 195.7 lbs. Side by side photo attached!

I am starting to notice that I am able to eat more - definitely nowhere near what my portions were prior to surgery but it is still more than what I was able to eat compared to 6-7 months ago. Is this normal??

It is also scary that I am able to tolerate junk foods like popcorn or chips and there are times when I feel like I can eat the entire bag (when I am on my period)!

I am also noticing that I start to get hungry every 2-3 hours so I have a small healthy snack in between meals but maybe eating every few hours is not a good thing??

Any feedback or suggestions would be much appreciated!

The sleeve is not going to stop you from making poor food choices. Yes, it is perfectly normal to gradually be able to eat more as time passes. Yes, it is perfectly normal to be able to tolerate junk food. Yes, it is perfectly normal to be able to eat tons of junky slider foods like popcorn and potato chips. They won't engage your restriction at all.

Toss out the crappy foods and remove them from your menu entirely. They are not helping you.

If you absolutely must have Snacks, have lean, unprocessed meat or colorful veggies. If you think you are "hungry" but your brain is telling you that must have Cookies rather than chicken breast or carrot sticks, you aren't really hungry, you are just having cravings. Wait until you are hungry enough for the diced chicken breast or some roast broccoli and have that for your snack.< /p>

This is the time when you need to get tougher with yourself rather than softer. You can do this. Buckle down and work!

By the way, you look fantastic . . . congratulations on your amazing success! Keep going!

Completely normal AND scary as well!

If you eat DENSE Protein when you are hungry, you will stay full longer and consume less calories. Learned that through trial and error, myself.

Continue to leave a 1/2 hour before and after eating for liquids. Again, you'll stay full longer.

chips, Cookies, bread etc... are slider foods, that is why you can eat more of those. Keep them out of the house if they are trigger foods plus they can CAUSE hunger.

You will find the balance that works for you. It is extremely scary, when you begin to tolerate larger portions. I was TERRIFIED, until I found what worked for me.

WLS is a temporary solution to the permanent problem of obesity. It would be great if we could only eat a few bites of food forever and never be hungry again, but that's not how it works unfortunately. That's why it's important to cement your good eating habits for when the honeymoon is finally over (sadly). They'll help carry you through to goal and then the even harder task of maintaining the weight you've lost.

You look great and have done so well! Keep up the good work!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
