We have a recent post with many people posting about Vitamins, but you really should ask your surgeon. Good luck!

I'm going to try some of the vitamin patches. Vitamins always make me nauseated so I'm hoping they work!

My hospital nutritionist recommended Flintstones chewable Multivitamins. I take two a day. Kind of like a childhood flashback every day! They are inexpensive too.

I have always used the PatchMD. They are great. My levels are perfect and I hated all the chewable bariatric Vitamins. A lot of people mention the Flintstones vitamins but the levels are not high enough according to the minimum levels I have seen. PatchMD always has 25 to 30% off offers.

Well, my Brigham & Women's nutritionist has me on the two Flintstones chewables plus a Calcium supplement, plus a B12 supplement daily. She also added a Vitamin D supplement. I have started Biotin for the hairloss fun that is coming down the road.

I had a hard time with the bariatric chewables. Talked to the nut and she said I could try the Patches but they dont know much about them to recommend them. I ordered two months worth. A week later I am broke out in a horrible itchy rash on my back, chest and arms. It is horrible. Dr. Put me on Zantac twice day plus topical cream. It still hasn't helped. I have now stopped the patch as of today and will find something else the nut recommended to start in a week or so. Ugh.

Yup.

These along with some calcium citrate chews and some Iron chewables can be all taken spaced apart so they don't interfere with each other being properly absorbed.

Centrum has an adult chewable - actual chewable, not the gummies. Can be somewhat hard to find in stores, I ordered on Amazon. But they are an adult complete Vitamin and chewable - orange flavor (somewhat reminiscent of the old school chewable baby aspirin). You should only need chewables for a short while until you can easily swallow regular Vitamins again.

That is horrible, I guess every medicine is going to give some people bad side effects. I am glad I was able to use them. They helped me so much especially in the beginning. I had hair falling out, cracked tongue, and thinning fingernails! If I couldn't use the patch, I think I would use Flintstones before the bariatric chewables, but keep an eye on your blood tests for all the nutrients you are missing.

Centrum vitamints are pretty good, with Calcium chews and mini high potency Iron. All available at any local pharmacy. You can find online coupons for the vitamints.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
