I received an email yesterday that said if I were to have one it's a $350 charge. I'm also a cash paying patient. Going to Mexico. I could find something else to buy for $350, like a new wardrobe..lol

Yeah. Not sure how they prove you actually had it. I don't know much about it. But do they know ahead of time?

My BMI is 35.5. I have a hernia that was caused from my ovary removal 18 mo ago. My bariatric surgeon said he will not be repairing. I'm a little irritated by this because now I'll have to have another surgery, when I have had 14 in the last 26 months! My hernia is very noticeable and I worry it will be even moreso after surgery.

Oh no in sorry you'll have to do another surgery. This is now my fear.

I had a hysterectomy about 2 years ago and I sometimes have a slight pain feeling in my lower abdominal area. I went to my doctor in June, they ordered a CT scan and an Xray there was no sign of anything. He told me it's gas and prescribed a rx generic for Nexium.

I've been searching the Web and it says sometimes these hernias are not caught with a CT scan.

My surgery is Friday we'll see what happens!!

I ended up having an hiatal hernia as well. I never knew I had it. Dr. found it as he went in. I'm all good now!! I just wonder if the chest pain is from that. He said it was an upper hernia??

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
