Crystal Ann Keister 49 Posted August 29, 2016 Morning all, I'm having my first taste of cramping post op. I just hit my 3rd week today (8/15 Surgery Day). After I had a BM today and did have to slightly push, I'm having alot of lower belly cramping. Is that normal? I haven't experienced this before and its making me nervous, have I pulled something loose in my small intestine. I go for my first post op appointment tomorrow, Ill ask then. But scared today. Postop 411 Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) Sounds pretty normal. Your brand new stomach trying to figure itself out. But definitely ask so you'll feel better. As long as they used staples, sutures, etc.; it would be really hard to do any damage. I'm over 11 years out and have never had an issue. In fact, I don't believe I've ever heard of an issue like that. So try not to worry. Edited August 29, 2016 by Postop

laney 172 Posted August 29, 2016 My Dr put me on stool softener day after surgery. I take 2 a day and I have to say they helped. You do not want to strain. My first BM after surgery was a killer, but once I started with the stool softener it became better. (TMI) sorry

overthemoon444 7 Posted August 30, 2016 Crystal I noticed you are from NC and I live in Raleigh NC and considering DS. I would love to keep up with your experiences and how it goes. I am new at this forum so I'm not sure how this all works. Bev
