So I'm 3 weeks post op. Is it too early for these hormones to dump? Lol Some effects have been good...and the hubby agrees. 6 weeks is a longgggg time with hormones increasing lol

But this morning I woke up tearful for no reason Smh I'm like what is up with these hormones Lol Anyone know a time frame for the estrogen surge?

Perhaps your spirit is just infusing you with the feeling of gratitude? I'd live in that moment and let the emotion come up and release. You're still adjusting to your new life and will experience a myriad of emotions-that's the mind/body/spirit connection; and that's a blessing in and of itself!

All the best,

Daniel

Wow that was a perfect answer!Thank you! When I was in the hospital, as soon as the nurse told me that I needed NO medication for any comorbidities I cried like a baby!!! To this day EVERYTHING has been regulated. I've been able to monitor my blood sugar and blood pressure at home...all within a perfectly normal range!!! My primary says once my A1C is within normal range he'll consider me no longer diabetic...that's around October for the 3 month window.

Yessss! I'm truly grateful and beyond blessed!!!

Dawn,

Aww! I'm glad it resonated. I just think people (in general) are quick to end emotions. I remember when my mom died, I had friends & family suggest maybe I take medication to deal with my grief. I thought: "Okay, but my mom just died. It was the worst thing that I ever faced. Doesn't that necessitate emotion?"

I was in grief, I was broken-she deserved that respect and I deserved my time to mourn. I know-heavy comparison. But I do think people don't listen to the feelings that bubble up, when your soul cries out from pain or joy.

I was truly remorseful for having becoming so big, but it never started clicking until right after my RNY.

Okay, enough rambles. Live in your light Dawn!

Hugs,

Daniel

I think this surgery is full of feelings for sure, but I know I was a hot, hormonal mess for the first 6 weeks... Rage, tears (both happy and sad), Sexual, etc

It will all settle down eventually! I read in the forums something about hormones and fat storage and how rapid weightloss can really affect your hormones until your body adjusts...

*hugs* you got this!

Just curious if those of us who are post menopausal should expect the hormone issues as well?

I've heard that those after menopause have gotten their menstrual back. Pleasant surprise? Lol but I've heard several people say that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
