Too much weight loss?

Recommended Posts

It is possible but not very common. As long as you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids and taking your Vitamins and supplements you should be ok. What does your surgeon say about your progress so far?

I'm about a month out from surgery. Can you loss too much weight?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

There are so many variables, the main one being how much do you need to lose?? Most people lose quickly at first, especially those who have a LOT to lose, but then it slows down. The sleeve will stretch, you will be able to eat more, your hunger will come back, etc. Most people have to start working to lose weight after a few weeks or months.

I am pre-op though, I am just going by what I have read and heard. Always best to ask your doctor or NUT.

I have lost 83 pounds during my six-month nutrition program, so I sometimes wonder the same thing. Everything was submitted to the insurance company two weeks ago tomorrow, so I am waiting now. By the time of surgery, I will be close to having lost 100 pounds. At that point, I will be about 10 pounds above the BMI threshold. I decided that I am not going to worry about it and just see what happens. I imagine that it will be approved, but we'll see...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
