SandyinFL 23 Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) I'm having trouble getting all the required Protein in, so want to add unflavored Isopure powder to some regular foods. The guy at GNC said the powder mixed with just Water tastes icky, but that it's okay if mixed with something. I want to add the powder to sf pudding, Soup, and smoothies, but I don't want to have to throw food away if the Protein Powder ruins the taste. Can anyone tell me what your experience has been? Thanks in advance! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Edited August 29, 2016 by SandyinFL
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted August 29, 2016 Unflavored doesn't mean it has no flavor. I would suggest you get some single serve packs of a variety of Protein powders to try before you invest in a large tub.
cindyw41 761 Posted August 29, 2016 That's the problem, unflavored doesn't mean it's tasteless. I haven't tried anything but unjury and it doesn't taste bad. They have a sample pack you can order before buying the big container. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Do you not notice the taste of the powder because it's masked by the food? Or can you taste it a bit, but not mind the taste? (My stomach has been finicky, so I'm nervous.) Clarevoyant 347 Posted August 29, 2016 I use GENEPRO in my smoothies and can not taste it. Only one tbsp is 30 grams Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
cindyw41 761 Posted August 29, 2016 pudding & oatmeal mostly. I didn't notice the taste as much as the texture. Something with more liquid probably wouldn't be so bad. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
onedeterminedchick 118 Posted August 29, 2016 Unjury unflavored Protein isn't bad at all. Just add a LITTLE to your meal supplement to get the protein you need. I am sampling different drinks now before my surgery to find out what I like...hopefully my taste buds don't change post op.

Alex Brecher 10,515 Posted August 29, 2016 +1 for GENEPRO Sent from my LG-D850 using the BariatricPal App We just started carrying GenePro in the BariatricPal Store. It's the 2nd generation version which is supposedly more efficient than the first.

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thanks, everyone. I appreciate the feedback. I'll try a little of the Isopure powder I have (a small bag) and see how it goes. At least now I know I won't be ruining a whole cup of yogurt or pudding. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted August 29, 2016 I used Isopure for a very short time, then I just couldn't stand it in anything. I switched to GENEPRO and am very happy with it. I can't smell or taste it at all.
amyericw 2 Posted August 29, 2016 I can't stand the Isopure anymore I had problems getting it down right before surgery and now after surgery the smell of it makes me sick Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Patchakc 45 Posted August 29, 2016 I'm only 5 days out, but I bought the nectar grab and go packets. Lemonade has been my favorite so far. It takes me almost all day to drink it, but if you have a cup like a yeti or similar to, it stays cold all day. I just can't go back to the chocolate yet.
