Tips for flight to Mexico

Recommended Posts

Im flying from south Florida to San Diego with a stop over in Atlanta on Thursday 9/1. Anybody have suggestions for the clear liquid diet I will be on both ways? I will be traveling most of each day and am worried about how the heck I will stay nourished.

Any suggestions for making the trips more comfortable will be MUCH appreciated.

you will need to bring a shaker bottle, and nectar powder and bring your own bottled Water that you buy airside before you board. You can ask the flight attendant to fill your shaker bottle with Water when she passes with drinks (but don't depend on them to return). You can bring some powdered broth or cube and ask for hot water. If you decide to use your shaker bottle, make sure it doesn't leak when you shake it. Either test it at home, or shake it in the bathroom.

Thanks for the the great tips. I laughed at the thought of shaking my bottle on the plane and having it splash all over the person next to me. Ill be sure to test it prior to using it. Going to GNC tomorrow to check out Isopure.< /p>

With the shaker bottle. I had an "accident" in the office, thankfully in my own cubicle last time I was on a liquid diet. What a mess. I'm super careful after that. I fly alot and have seen many accident, mostly careless passengers with their coffee cups boarding.

I checked out the Isopure, but they won't allow you to bring it on the plane ... Do you mean purchase the big tub and put it in a shaker ? @@OKCPirate

They allowed it in my checked bag.

I bought Vitamin Water and found a restaurant that had chicken noodle Soup. I asked for just the broth and that I would gladly pay full price. No problem.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
