sandeeb 13 Posted August 28, 2016 I read a question about taking time off post op but it didn't really pertain to me. I have short term disability at my job and some paid time off and wa thinking I would take 3 weeks. My husband is supportive of that and says we can afford to do so. But how much time dos others take to get back on track and back to work? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
CLN.BK 165 Posted August 28, 2016 I have a somewhat physically demanding job, so I am taking off 4 weeks. I'm supposed to RTW this Friday. I've read that people with desk jobs are able to go back much sooner though.
AgentSmith 39 Posted August 28, 2016 I have a "desk job" and I could easily go back after a week. It's not about pain but more managing the diet and hydration that's important for the first few weeks out. If I had a more physically demanding job I'd certainly take longer... For my band I took four days and for my sleeve I'm taking a week and a half. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
catwoman7 11,220 Posted August 28, 2016 I could have gone back after two, but I developed hives the third week (not sure what from), so I was glad I took three weeks off. I would have ended up taking three regardless....
sandeeb 13 Posted August 28, 2016 Thanks! I have a desk job as well. But very mentally draining.I am also concerned about the emotional changes that happen during the first 3 weeks. I don't want to take that baggage back with me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

suesmithwhippet 4 Posted August 29, 2016 Take the time off even though you may be "flying a desk" - it's important to get your eating/drinking routine down. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
sandeeb 13 Posted August 29, 2016 Yes that is my concern is getting a good routine down with my food and Water before starting the crazy world of packing lunches and planning dinner while in a meeting! I feel like it will need my indices attention ! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Indivded Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
