I'm tired of being tired and hungry

Recommended Posts

Are you getting all of your liquids and Protein in? I'm just asking cause I got sleeved 8 22 16 and I noticed on the days where I didn't get all my stuff in I was dragging, irritable, and sleepy. But once I got the hang of things and got in all of my Protein and liquids I felt much better and not hungry.

I was sleeved 8/9 and I'm on my thick purée. I'm feeling the same way like I'm tired of mushy mushy and liquids. But I know my stomach is not ready for food food so I went on YouTube and looked up purée dishes and was able to get a variety to try and I got some new tastes. I've been also doing baby food

Best answered and addressed by your surgeon. You should have been provided......before surgery.....with a diet to follow and the timeline it unfolds when post-op.

In that first month it is a matter of safety......your safety. Please confer with your surgeon and nutritionist and get the facts from them.

I found that what I though was hunger in those early days was simply my nerves recovering in my healing stomach. Ten months out and I don't have hunger.

You should be able to have meat by week 7 depending on your surgeons guidelines. Right now just focus on making these 6 weeks count. Focus on getting in your fluids and Protein, your Vitamins and if you do,exercise i don't think you will be all that concerned about when you can eat fish and shrimp.

There will be plenty of time for that.

I don't even know I try but eating and drinking the same things are flat out frustrating all I can really seem to tolerate besides my fluids are yogurt mashed potatoes and cream of wheat

If you don't even know if you are getting in your fluids and Protein, does that mean you are not keeping track? Like on paper or an app?

We can't guesstimate what we're doing in the early stages, the stakes are way too high. You didn't work do hard to get through pre-op and surgery to let things slip now bc you weren't tracking the ONLY things we're supposed to be tracking: liquid, Protein, exercise.

And I fear that crunchy sunflower seeds are far far down the line.

Agree with everyone saying to consult your surgeon. I would BET that you will be eating soft seafood by week three or four max but the seeds are a while off, or at least they were for me. You won't want anything small and sharp getting wedged into your suture line. I wasn't allowed to eat ANYTHING like sunflower seeds, strawberries, blackberries, popcorn (hulls), chia seeds, etc. until about 3 or 4 months out.

It's OK to be tired of being tired and hungry, but this will pass and it WILL be worth it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
