I hear basically everyone thinks after the surgery "what the hell did I just do" but after the pounds are rolling off and you feel better then u had for years, it was just all worth it. You have to be ready with your mind. The restrictions should be ok to do and not like some people on this site, a few days after the surgery they complain of the pureed food. You will for life time look at food differently. So be ready with every Fiber of your being before you take this step and then it will all be ok. Check out Instagram also, there are a lot of young people who have gone through VLS surgery and done well

You have the surgery......stick with a diet that is easy to stick with.....lose the weight over the course of the first year.....then keep it off for life by eating normal portions of normal food.

It's simple in theory......and thus far I've found it's very simple in practice.

We just have to get out of our own way and it unfolds easily.

Best decision I ever made! I'm 5 months out and have had no complications or regrets and lost 106 pounds. You definitely need to be prepared. The 6 month program I was in before the surgery really helped me understand exactly what I was getting myself into. You'll be fine.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
