Protein Packed Ideas

Recommended Posts

People who can cook and bake I'm trying to come up with an idea of a way to make a Protein packed quick snack that I could use with the Protein powder. So what I'm trying to do is take the scoop of Protein powder or the two scoops and try to get it into one bite size piece. Imagine brownie bite, Jello shot something that would only be a few bites but get me a large quantity of the protein powder. I'm thinking about making a very strong protein pancake with a full serving of protein in one pancake that I can eat fast. Something that I can get it all in one quick swallow and done with any ideas that can anybody come up with a concoction that's edible

Sounds convenient .... I don't know of anything that dense w/ protein.... Except Protein Bars.< /p>

(Not clear on the concept of one quick bite instead of enjoying and savoring something you like tho)

I have seen "mug cake" recipes on here. But they use a coffee cup. And Protein Powder. They are thick. They are in the recipe section. You might have some better ideas from others in that area.

Good luck.

I am starting my 3 week post op on Monday. And since being nothing but Protein shakes and liquids for 3 weeks now. I dont know how Im gonna make it forever on Protein Shakes. My surgery requires 90 to 100 grams of Protein a day. I know once Im on real food I'll get most of my protein from my food. But if I need to catch up I dont want to always have shakes for large gram consumption to hit my goals. So I was trying to think of a way to substitute the sickly sweet shakes. I made tonight one pancake with non flavored protein. It came out ok, with 21 grams of protein in one pancake. It tasted more dense like bread. But I think it will be perfect for hummus dipping.

I have a recipe for Chocolate-Peanut Butter Protein Bites. They are yummy little balls of goodness.

Take two scoops of chocolate Protein mix, 1 cup natural PB and any other mix-in you might like (oats, raisins, mini choc chips, etc) Mix this all together and form into bite-sized balls.

I keep mine in the freezer and unthaw when needed. Nice protein packed treat!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
