to plastic surgury or not that is the question

Recommended Posts

Well to make a long story short I have been given the opportunity to have plastic surgery done on my mid section. It will be at no out of pocket cost to me but I am just not sure if I want to do it or not.

feed back welcome :)

@@Waler Why are you reluctant to do it? Do you need surgery - or are you happy with things the way they are?? Is it free because it's in a back alley somewhere?? lol ;-) If it's a reputable plastic surgeon - I would say go for it (I'm pretty sure I would).

How far are you out from surgery? Are you at goal? Below goal? More to go?

I've been told no plastics till at least 18 months PO.

I'm tempted to believe me..but to go through surgery now with more to lose wouldn't be a wise choice.

If you're at goal and are maintaining for a period of time..go for it.

The surgery would be done by a reputable surgeon in a large hospital. I don`t know maybe it is a guy thing.

I vote you do it. Yes, the pain and recovery for a panniculectomy or Tummy Tuck can be very trying, but it is so worth it in the end. I am 5 years out from my extended tummy tuck and I am grateful every single day that I had it done. I had a particularly rough recovery, but that is all a distant memory now!

plastic surgery done on mid section. no out of pocket cost to me not sure if I want to do it or not.

hey dude

no money, no tummy, no brainer LOL

did you lose your mind along with those 147 lbs???

only teasing!!!

i would run to the OR!!!!

are you afraid to have PS?

worried about pain etc

if you are, you wouldn't be the first or last to have those thoughts

after PS checks you out, if he sees no problem with PS now - go for it

if he says you must wait a few months, that's ok too

i'd bite the bullet and have that Tummy Tuck yesterday

you'll look "HOT" on the beach too ;)

good job

good luck

kathy

congrats

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
