Hey Everyone !!!

I know its ultimately my doctors orders and advice .. But I also want to get some insight also ... How soon any of you were able to do a full workout in the gym or anywhere (dance class, zumba, kickboxing, etc.) ?

Thanks in advance

I was only cleared for walking until 6-8 weeks. Due to the heat I went to the gym to walk, nice and easy on the treadmill. I tried the bike to exercise my knee which was stiff. Big mistake as my tummy started hurting bu an incision

As I was being discharged on Wednesday, all this was discussed in detail. My team said it was ok for me to "glisten" but no pouring down sweat before my 2 week post-op appointment. Do what feels comfortable. I'm planning on going to the gym tomorrow and spending about an hour on the recumbent bike (my cardio of choice - I have bad knees) and maybe do a little work with hand weights. After my 2 week post-op, if all is well, I'm cleared for whatever I feel up to. Every team is different on this issue. But I trust my team- my doc has been doing this for 20 years and is a department chair at a university hospital in a large metropolitan city - so I think he has the track record to back it up.

For what it's worth - it also depends on how well you are getting in and keeping down fluids. I'm not really having a problem with fluids. Yesterday I got in 48 ounces of liquid and 40 grams of Protein on my first full day home post op.

I am 9 days post op and all the exercise I can do is walking. That is what my team recommends for the first month. Once, I get cleared by the surgeon I can do more. Since I am home for a month I am walking every hour during my waking hours. Every other day I push further my walking. I think I am up to a 1/2 mile now. Want to be a mile by my post op visit.

I was cleared at 2 weeks to do whatever I want (just this week). I have a spin bike at home but I am not killing it. Just 30 mins of a light sweat. Also trying to get 10K steps in a day.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
