Just wondered if anyone knows if you are allowed to have communion wine at mass, and I suppose the wafer in phase one after the op?? Would love to know if you have done it.

Also today I did my first burp! (4days post-op) and it was a frightening experience!! Am I allowed to burp? I know it is the gas going which is excellent but all the rest went out the other way! It hurt slightly but felt ok-I know this is a stupid question but do you still burp with a band???!!

I am analysing every little twinge, I have no idea how my band feels! At least I am not hungry just constantly sipping. I can get down about 200mls in 25 mins now which I think is ok, I am terryfied of stretching my pouch!!

Including my pre-op diet I have now lost 18lbs and I have my chin back!!:clap2:

Drink the wine, pass on the wafer.

Why is wine ok and not the wafer?

I'm five days post-op and wondered is a glass ok?

Not going to communion but I do love red wine.

Check with your doctor or nutritionist about drinking wine.

Communion wine is a very tiny sip of wine, and that won't hurt anyone, even a new post-op person (Again, check with your doctor about this). The wafer however contains wheat (It has to by Canon law) and wheat products can cause blockage issues in people with a Lap-Band. Taking either the wine, the wafer, or both is completed communion according to the Catholic Church. I know some Catholics who cannot take the wine due to being recovering alcoholics, and I know two who cannot take the wafer due to wheat allergies, so they take the one that is not an issue for them.

And also with you.... :girl_hug:

I skip the wafer and had a talk with my Pastor as to why, he is completely understanding! :girl_hug:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
