ALittleMe0914 69 Posted August 25, 2016 Hi Everyone! I am getting sleeved on 09/14, and I'm finishing up the paperwork for my FMLA and time out of work. When I asked my surgeon, he said that 2 weeks at home should be sufficient for me if I didn't want to take a lot of time out of work. I have a desk job, and the ability to work from home, so I spend most of my day sitting and never really lift anything. I know that everyone is different as far as recovery goes, but I am just curious as to how long everyone else took? Did you think it was sufficient? I am in a management position and when I leave I feel like everything gets out of order and I panic! Any insight is appreciated!
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 25, 2016 I took two weeks for a similar type of job. I probably should have taken three. I was too exhausted to make it through an entire day for the first couple days back, had to leave and go home to sleep in the middle of the afternoon. After a couple days of that plus a long weekend, I went back to work and was fine to get through the whole day.
ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted August 25, 2016 curious as to how long everyone else took? @ two weeks off sounds like a frequent response works for many your body will be the official "leader" telling you when you are able to return to work many OP don't have the luxury to take as much time off as they want/need if you must return to work sooner than you like - try 1/2 days i returned to "work" the next day i am happily retired!!!! good luck to you and your new sleeve speedy recovery kathy

cdsjjotn 516 Posted August 25, 2016 I took one week. I also have a management desk job but was able to do some work at home. When I returned I was exhausted and I had to remind myself to drink drink drink. So I would suggest 2 weeks off just to give yourself time to heal and get used to getting your liquid in. mbnurse 28 Posted August 25, 2016 I have a similar job. I had surgery on Monday and took that week off. Worked from home the next week, probably about 50% productive. Returned to work the following Monday exactly 2 weeks after surgery. I was a little more tired than usual but did fine.
