Not feeling well

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 4 weeks post. I'm starting to not feel like myself. I was doing good til a couple days ago. My stomach is not feeling it best. Doesn't like my Protein shakes, Premier Protein, I can't keep anything down. I can only take in 2-3 small bites of anything. That 4th bite, and I'll be hugging the toilet. I feel bad to the point of not being able to walk or exercise. Water is starting to have a nasty taste. I've tried the MIO enhancers and I can't do it. Don't know what else to do. Please advice Please

I suggest calling your Dr to discuss. It's not unusual to only eat 2-3 small bites - especially depending on what you're eating. Are you measuring food and taking tiny bites, chewing and eating very slow? If you aren't able to keep liquids down - you need to call your surgeon.

3 to 4 bites is about normal at your stage. For me it was more like 2. No more than 1/4 cup and many times could not finish it or it would put me over the edge.

Try eating slower and smaller bites. That will give your brain time to catch up with your tummy.

If that don't work, call your doctor you might have something more going on.

The bananas and cream premier Protein shake is really good. I also bought some sugar free caramel Syrup (in the coffee isle) and some PB2 Peanut Butter powder and add either of those to my shakes and it enhances the flavor. Maybe that would help make them more tolerable.

If you are hanging out in the bed, that is the worst thing you can do. You need to get up and start drinking fluids. You guys will feel better.

You are likely tired, dizzy and nauseous and it all steps from not enough fluids and Protein. It's a good way to end up back in the hospital.....

Try drinking your Water at room temperature and your Protein icy cold. They do go down better that way.

I hope you get better soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
