I am not scheduled yet for surgery. Might br November.

Reading about all the pain people are dealing with. I know it is not everyone. My question is "The older you get does your pain tolerance decrease?"

Or does it have anything with your age? I have had totally knee replacements on both knees and servived.

I only plan on taking a week off. Not filing FMLA and management does not know.

I don't know about pain tolerance and age. I will say that I think what most people struggle with when they return to work is not so much pain, as it is (1) exhaustion and (2) being able to meet Fluid and Protein goals while having to focus on work as well.

Good luck!

I came home on a Wednesday and I only took pain meds that day and Thursday. After that I didn't need it any more. I just turned 51. My procedure was on July 27th this year. My birthday is in August. My pain was worse in the hospital. I was there just one night. Good luck. It does get easier. Just takes time

I'm 55. Had surgery this Tuesday. Had IV pain meds in hospital on Tuesday, switched to oral on Wednesday. Discharged Wednesday. Used 1 pain pill Wednesday night to help sleep. Took 2 Tylenol yesterday. Worked 4.5 hours from a chair in my living room yesterday and working from home today. Plan to go in for half a day on Monday. I've had 2 c-sections. This is a walk in the park. If you've done knees, you should have no issues, but YMMV.

After having two total knee replacements this sleeve surgery is going to be a non-event for you. I was laughing about how little it hurt....it was almost like I'd not had surgery.

My doctor wouldn't do my gallbladder at the same time they said it's a dirty organ and should not be done at the same time as the sleeves so here I am 35 days post op my sleeve and back in pain again with a gallbladder removal

You are absolutely right I was advised to take 6 weeks off after my sleeve and I did just that you will be too weak to do full day's work and you may be in a little more pain than you think

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
