Janey B 28 Posted August 24, 2016 Hi. I'm a married woman who doesn't cook. There...my confession. Haha! Well, I can cook, but I hate to, so I rarely do it. So, usually my husband either cooks or we get take out and that's been our way of life for 30 years. My question is, once I'm cleared for regular food...then what? He's like a stick. Not an ounce of body fat, and if he eats like I'm going to be eating, he will disappear. How do you deal with this? Do I cook for myself and let him fend for himself? Do I eat what he cooks but only small amounts? (meat and potatoes...) do I start cooking and try to get him to eat healthy with me? He will absolutely not eat fish, chicken, etc. What about take out? This is going to be the biggest challenge for me. Not the willpower, just the details. Help!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted August 24, 2016 Buy yourself a rotisserie chicken. LOL One will last you days. Then eat whatever veggie sides he makes. Baking fish requires pretty much no skill, season fillet, add a touch of butter or ghee, cook covered at 400 for 20 minutes or less. Eating what you ate before surgery in small amounts while you are trying to lose, is fail. You really need to take the time to relearn to eat the right way. Eating normally, in small amounts, doesn't retrain your mind. The biggest part of surgery is not the physical part, it is the mental reset.
vamping 183 Posted August 25, 2016 Yay! Another like me! My husband does all of the cooking and enjoys it. Unfortunately, he is also a diabetic so healthy cooking is not an issue. He has been doing a lot of crockpot meals for us prior to me starting my preop diet. Maybe that would be a good and easy option for you?
