8petals 57 Posted August 24, 2016 I'm a little over 4 weeks post-op right now. I'm supposed to be getting in 60 grams of Protein a day. There's absolutely no way I'm getting that much in. I cannot stomach Protein shakes of any kind. As soon as I take a sip, I vomit. I've tried several different brands, flavors, and kinds. I don't know what it is, but my sleeve hates them. I do eat food with Protein, but being that I can only eat 1-2 oz of food at a time, it's still not nearly enough of my daily protein intake I'm supposed to be getting. I know they have Protein Bars and Cookies. Do you think that would help? If anyone has any suggestions and/or something I can buy, PLEASE let me know. I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance! mandrey 47 Posted August 24, 2016 Had you been drinking the Protein shakes before your surgery? If so, did you like and tolerated them ok before? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thea1965 25 Posted August 24, 2016 Try adding something like GENEPRO Protein powder to things. They say it has no taste. You shouldn't even know it's in your food or drink. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G750A using the BariatricPal App

GSleeve822 394 Posted August 25, 2016 I really liked the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury powder when I first started. Also, I think it's near impossible to do it without Protein shakes, or really even to get all that Protein in at all when you're first post op. Do your best... if bars work better for u, then try that! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

trekker954 421 Posted August 25, 2016 Get some GENEPRO. You can mix it with anything. I mix it with my hummus, yogurt, cottage cheese, I even mixed it into the infamous Ricotta Bake. We need to be creative in the begging soft food stage. It is very hard getting Protein in. Thankfully I have no issues with shakes. But I find the timeframe very difficult getting in Protein and fluids in a 12 hour awake day.
cindyw41 761 Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) @@8petals You can buy unjury from their website. I'd suggest starting with the starter kit. Then buy the flavor(s) you like in bigger quantity. They also sell it on Amazon. Some hospitals that perform bariatric surgeries have it in their pharmacies too. http://www.unjury.com/?tag=GoogleBrand&gclid=CKjX4KHg3M4CFckkhgod2XkFpQ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Edited August 25, 2016 by cindyw41
TraciK69 22 Posted August 25, 2016 I like that I can get the starter kit from unjury, it will give me a chance to try different flavors before spending more. Though from what I understand, my tastes are going to change after surgery so what I like now may not be what I will like then. I'm leery of GENEPRO every since I found out that their Protein powder doesn't actually have 30 grams of Protein per scoop, but has what they say is the "equivalent" of 30 grams per scoop. Something about the fact that with their formula one scoop with 10 grams of protein all of the protein absorbs whereas other powders you only absorb 1/3 of the advertised amount.
