annieway2lose 2 Posted August 23, 2016 Hi, I am new here and just wondering what the time frame was for everyone from when they had the first consultation with the Dr to the time that they had surgery? I have met my deductible for the year with my insurance but not my out of pocket maximum, so I will still need to come up with about $4K. I have my first consultation on 9/8. I don't really want to take out a loan to come up with the out of pocket and I could have the money in cash around January. Am I going to my consultation too early? finding_onederland 226 Posted August 23, 2016 My first appointment was 5/12 - my surgery is 9/6. If your process moves faster than that, you could always just tell them you want to Wait to have surgery until January. Going2lose 9 Posted August 24, 2016 It all really depends on your insurance requirements...I have BS of CA and first appt was 6/20 and surgery was on 8/19. My insurance had no requirements for a supervised diet -- many require 3 or 6 months.

annieway2lose 2 Posted August 24, 2016 Thank you for all the replies! I guess I was just worried that once the insurance approved I would have to do it right away. Sounds like I am going at about the perfect time though. My insurance requires that I work with their weight loss coaches for 3 months prior and I am about half way done with that. olamae 16 Posted August 24, 2016 You will have so many days once insurance approves it. Some insurances give 3 month approvals some 30 days. Ask your insurance. But the surgeons office can give them an estimated date as well. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using the BariatricPal App

MickiinFL 14 Posted August 27, 2016 I seemed to have taken a long time compared to most on here. I had my first Dietitian appointment in March and I am scheduled for Mid October. So a solid 7 months. Good luck to you!
