KristenLe 5,979 Posted August 23, 2016 @@Capricorn86 This is not a good habit to get into. It's actually a form of an eating disorder. Not only that but it triggers your stomach to start digestion and your stomach acids to kick in -- causing stomach problems or GERD. In addition, your saliva already starts to break down the sugars before you spit it out. It's dangerous and not at all healthy. Please be careful - stick with your plan. Additional stomach acid can mimic hunger pains so be sure to take a PPI as prescribed. You may also be dealing with head hunger. Stay strong!

Capricorn86 20 Posted August 24, 2016 Yea I know it's bad and im going to put a stop and the hunger shouldn't be as bad once I start my purée food.... And the funny thing is I wasn't a big eater b4 the surgery but now all I think about is food Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted August 24, 2016 Sounds like head hunger. I found this book helpful to understand the emotional aspect of WLS. https://www.amazon.com/s?rh=n%3A133140011%2Ck%3AThe+Emotional+First+Aid+Kit%3A+A+Practical+Guide+to+Life+After+Bariatric+Surgery%5Cc+Second+Edition&keywords=The+Emotional+First+Aid+Kit%3A+A+Practical+Guide+to+Life+After+Bariatric+Surgery%2C+Second+Edition&ie=UTF8 Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

Lema 236 Posted August 25, 2016 Vitamins cause that for me. Now I either take them with a meal or with a snack at bed time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Tami_Lynn 77 Posted August 25, 2016 I'm almost 3 weeks out post op and I am craving candy and chips although I don't give in to my cravings but when I am hungry a spoon is all I can get in of baby food Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App My Nutritionist said to never eat baby food because it does not have the nutrition that we need after WLS. Its mostly carbohydrates and barely any Protein. Everyone's plan is different but I was told this by the NUT, surgeon, and the nurses upon discharge. If it never came up then I would ask your surgeons office if I were you. You dont want to get malnourished. Just lookin out for a fellow WLS Diva!
madadams 130 Posted August 25, 2016 My dietician actually told me I could get jars of baby food. It's only for a couple of weeks so doesn't really matter. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

Pescador 1,374 Posted August 27, 2016 Relax and sip broth or hot tea. Also, I tried to keep busy. A teaspoon of refried Beans was very satisfying and yummy. I havent had any since lol.
