How often do you "eat"?

I had gastric bypass on Wednesday, so I am 5 days out. My doctor gave me the goals of trying to reach 60-80 grams of Protein a day, 100 grams of carbs a day and 30 fat grams a day. Also, 2 liters of fluids a day. I am working very hard, but can't get all this in yet. I am trying to get something down every 2-3 hours. How often are you eating/drinking something? Just wondering what other plans look like (will stick with what my doctor is telling me in the end, but just curious about others).

Don't worry if you don't reach these goals for the first couple of weeks....mainly stay hydrated and get in the Protein you can. It gets easier with each passing week! It sounds like you are doing fine! Good luck!

The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.

Weight loss is achieved after surgery through volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your Protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes.

During the first few weeks after surgery, your body is in a major heal mode. Many patients find it difficult to meet their protein and Fluid requirements during this time. So if you have a problem with these, just keep trying and you should be able to get there.

      Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
