Seagull 140 Posted August 26, 2016 I had my surgery on Wednesday and I feel horrible. I can't eat or drink, because when I try I feel so so sick and start gagging. I wish I had never done this. I'm so upset that I've been looking up 'stomach transplants'. I just want to die at this point. This surgery was the worst decision I ever made. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App Sounds like you didn't research the surgery beforehand. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App @@SweetStarlight Sorry you are feeling so down. :-( Hang in there -- hopefully you will start to become more comfortable with your new normal. It will get better as the swelling inside from the surgery goes down. Give yourself time and try to rest and drink fluids (little sips only). I am 3.5 months out and can eat most types of food now. just not very much. I don't have the hunger that I used to so it is easier for me to avoid temptation right now. I am 61 years old with a thyroid problem but am down over 40 lbs. haven't weighed this low in over 25 years so am quite happy. Getting some liquids is the most important thing right after surgery. If you get dehydrated you may end up back in the hospital. Take tiny sips and try different temperature liquids to see what works. Also different non-sugar nob-carbonated flavor a can help. Try sugar free Popsicles. And try warm broth (I used imagine fake chicken broth and also their vegetable broth warmed the first few weeks). See what works for you. Pre surgery I used to gulp/guzzle plain, room temperature Water. Now I like it with ice and prefer with crystal light. Your tastes will change. I was on Clear Liquids only the first 2 weeks after surgery (Dr said I needed to let my stomach heal). If you can't get your liquids in call your surgeon! Pescador 1,374 Posted August 26, 2016 I am 70 and I beg you to try to relax and go with this. Try not to be negative. It has been life changing and pure joy for me and my husband, reversing serious health problems, which I know will add years to our lives. Yes we have had a few problems, bot nothing compared to what went on prior to the sleeve. Blessings your way!
catlady2012 73 Posted August 26, 2016 You can do it! I think most of us are food addicts and may not necessarily realize it. During the past 6 days of post-op (sleeved on 8/18), I have learned that I am a food addict. I started my food fast on 8/4 at 415 pounds. have lost 41 pounds (currently 374pounds) in less than 3 weeks. It hasn't been easy, but the benefits I'm already getting in both health and appearance are slowly taking the place of the comfort that food gave me. Today is the first day I really thought about cheating. The urge was very strong, but I fought it...and won! It was a big deal for me and I'm so happy that I didn't give in. Food has a power over most of, if not all of us. Personally, that makes me mad and now I have a tool to fight back! Stay strong and keep the faith. For those regretting it, give yourself a chance to become free and live the life you deserve! The happiness you get from a cheeseburger will pale in comparison to looking and feeling better about yourself. I know it's tough, but you can do it!! I've attached a picture of my face from last month and a pic that I took today. It helps me so much to see these results. I still have a long way to go, but I have faith in myself that I can and WILL do it! You guys that are struggling can too! Stay strong and don't let food have control over you. Remember, you're the boss of your own body! Don't let food bully you! I did not do any pre-surgery photos or measurements or any along the way to goal. I am very sorry I did not do this, but I have saved a few outfits so that is something. I am four years out and 125# lost. I did regain 35# last year due to medical issues, medications, and slacking off on logging my foods. Took about 6 months but I am now back at goal and faithfully logging my foods. Best wishes on your journey. Steena80 1 Posted August 26, 2016 The first week is definitely the hardest! I had my sleeve on 7/19 and I'm down 23 lbs and I feel amazing! I'm down 2 pants sizes! It is absolutely worth it! Try and lose the mind set that you'll never eat real food again bc you will it will just be smaller portions and you will savor it more when you have it! This too shall pass! . Hang in there friend! MichelleStevens 18 Posted August 26, 2016 I had a lot of regrets for 2 weeks after surgery. I am so glad I had it done. I was a revision from the lapband. I'm down 45 pounds from March and am so happy. People tell me all the time not to lose anymore weight that I'm too skinny now. I love it. For the first time in my life I'm happy with the results. Mudgy6 88 Posted August 26, 2016 You have to remember your stomach is still healing. It gonna take time for it to heal. Please don't give up. It will get better. I felt the same way. My stomach was not liking anything. I had to keep trying different Protein drinks and food. Now all I can terate is warm broth, sugar free popsicles, and a little bit of Water. Keep trying please. Good luck Sent from my SM-G550T1 using the BariatricPal App
mike_s 32 Posted August 26, 2016 I had RNY 2 years and 1 week ago and 105lbs ago. I felt the same as everyone else is say...it sucked the first week or three. It was more frustrating than anything. If my wife hadn't had it done about 8 years before me, I would have been even more frustrated and probably depressed. The surgeon met with me as soon as I woke up from surgery; the first thing he warned me about was I would probably feel regret but to stick with it and it would get better. One thing I wasn't prepared for was I would throw up about 2 times a day for about 4 months but that's gotten better as well. Your health is the most important thing in your life. Hang in there, follow the diet plan you were given and it'll work out for the best for you. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App it all gets better eventually. No sense in forcing it... within 4-5 weeks you will be eating like an adult again... at around 6-7 weeks I was already eating adult foods but just much smaller quantities, much slower, and actually chewed the food.
