Feeling newly inspired!

Recommended Posts

Well all, I WAS a success story. i lost almost all of my weight, was within 10 lbs of goal.

Left a career path i wasn't happy in, started grad school, took an AWESOME job i loved. had to deal with some extra cals from working night shift. but overall it was all good.

then this past spring I lost my dad. I had just taken a promotion and truly, he passed away SO fast (within a week of cancer diagnosis). i didn't really mourn. i jumped back into work. i found myself drinking pop after pop. eating EVERYTHING. Cookies all the time. rice krispy treats. cheesy breadsticks. pizza. ALL THE JUNK. totally bad.

now i'm up 20 lbs from my lowest. i feel terrible. i have this huge spare tire. i am sluggish and run down. in addition, i have a probable ovarian cyst or dermoid that has to be dealt with, and i KNOW all this sugar and crap cannot be good for that.

THANKFULLY, you are all here for me. i lost my old doc because of insurance change with the new job. i put off seeing a new doc and nut because frankly, i'm embarrassed to see the new one. but today, i'm going to the Y for an appt with the trainer. and tomorrow, yup, i'm calling for an appt with the new doc and nut. hopefully it will be within the next 2-3 weeks.

i spent a lot of time reading threads, and went back to read my first 30-40 postings to realize WHAT my original drive was. i feel newly inspired.

i am thankful. i hope that you will all provide me the awesome support you did when i was pre-op some 26-30 months ago. my promise to myself and to all of you for accountability is to post on these forums at least daily, and to start a food journal again, AND i'm going to check in with the support group of my new doc.

definitely feeling inspired.

Losing a parent is very hard and really affects every aspect of one's life. I lost my mom in February and the grieving and transition has definitely impacted my weight as well as many other things. Glad you are re-inspired and have a plan.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
