I've just started my liquid diet today. My surgery date is October 5th. I am at my highest weight at 225. I am 59 years old.

Can’t stay like this much longer. I realize that I have to make some serious changes in my life. I’ve decided to write a sort of journal of my experience of going through this time in my life. I admit that I am somewhat scared and anxious but it is something that I want very much. I want to feel HEALTHY again.

Just had my first shake. Not so bad. Probably won’t say that after a few days of these drinks. I’m nervous and I don’t know why. I realize that I have to do this for 2 weeks. Will I succeed? I will really try my best. To come this far. I must push myself like I never have before.

I have all the co-morbidities that go with the weight gain such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, joint, back pain and sleep apnea. Very dangerous combination.

Im a 10/fiver too! Good luck!

Im Scheduled for October 6, I started my pre-op diet on Sept 22. It is HARD; I'm trying to eat/ drink every 2 hours to keep ahead of the hunger. as long as I commit to that its not AS bad. What is CRAZY is that I got weighed at my pre-op appointment and then I weighed myself this morning, and I'm down 7 pounds .. For me starting this is making me feel like this is getting more real.

I think for me the pre-op diet has really made me think how much I want to do this operation. I'm starting to get past the being hungry all the time. My NUT is making me eat 'normal' food and I'm not on the shakes. I think being on the shakes would be easier. I've done CWP and was much easier than making food. I'm 9lbs down since 19th and I feel good. Hang in there Hun.

My dietitian has put me on 3 weeks of Optifast Meal Replacement shakes x3 times daily. I'm also allowed to have salad vegetables such as lettuce, capsicum, onion, tomatoes and no fat Salad Dressing. I can also have steamed vegetables at dinner time except for starchy vegetables such as potato, corn etc. I can have sugarless jelly and sugar free diet soft drinks too. I can cope with this.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
